FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Covenant volleyball junior outside hitter Ginny Moore has been named the USA South Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 16, announced the conference on Monday afternoon.
The honor is the third of Moore's career. It is also the first time this season that a Covenant player has garnered a weekly accolade from the USA South.
Moore, a junior from Fort Myers, Fla., averaged 3.85 kills and 4.46 digs per set on the week to help Covenant to a 3-1 record. In a 3-0 win over LaGrange last Wednesday, Moore posted seven kills, 11 digs, five aces and three assists. In a 3-1 loss to nationally-ranked Hendrix on Thursday, she registered a double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs to go along with two block assists. In Saturday's 3-0 victories, Moore had 10 kills and 21 digs in a win over Rhodes before tallying 18 kills, 14 digs and three assists in a win over Oglethorpe.
On the year, Moore leads the team with 3.15 kills per set and 3.88 digs per set. The junior has recorded 13 double-doubles.
Covenant will travel to Maryville on Tuesday for a USA South matchup. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
